BARCELONA HIGHER SCHOOL OF HOSTELRY
The building consists of four floors, a basement plus three floors intended for services of the School of restaurant business and Hostelry. The exterior image is that of a building articulated in two parallel volumes and united on one side; One that opens on the Paseo del Taulat, and the other that opens to the patio of Palo Alto. These two volumes will have different height, facade treatment and function. The first one is wider and has one more floor, where are located warehouses, archives, offices, and technical premises. In order to have, regarding Palo Alto, a system of windows very controlled and punctual the volume has an opaque facade treatment, with a stucco finish. The second volume is made entirely with a curtain wall, this is more transparent in correspondence of public spaces, such as the entrance hall to the school, the cafeteria and the restaurant; And more opaque in correspondence of classrooms and kitchens. The difference in number of floors between the two volumes allows the realization of a large terrace on the top floor.
